Arrrrgh!!!!!! IOS4 vs Android

Yes, like most iphone fans I am tired of hearing the comparison of iphone to Android, but I am not an iphone fan!! Yes, you must compare iOS and Android and not phone to phone. Yes, Apple has one phone line and one tablet line and Android has many, so it is hard to compare. But, take a step back from the trees and look at the forest. Android is well liked. Apple fans cannot ignore the momentum behind Android. It is not a half-rate OS. If it was, it would have numbers like Windows Mobile or Blackberry. People like Android (look here or here). It has had steady growth since Android 2.0. The numbers show people like the phones.

I have an android device and love it. It gives me the ability to do so much more of what I want it to do than the iphone. IN MY OPINION!! iOS is a great OS and there are a lot of great things that it does, but so does Android. Would I be happy with an iphone? Yeah I would. Do I like Apple's take on the app development for its devices? no. Do I like Android's openness? I do. I am a techy guy and like to tinker and you will find many of those types will migrate to Android. It fits me.

I know... I know... Apple was first and Android just copied them. I don't want to argue on who copied who. There has been UI "evolution/innovation" between OS companies all the way back to Xerox. Remember Xerox Alto? Here is the bottom line. People like Android, others like iOS and there are some (weird) people who like MS and BB. Chose the OS the suits you and move on with life. Don't try and covert me, I have enough smarts to choose the OS that works for me. Do your research and make the choice. The thing that really gets me going are the uneducated that think they can regurgitate propaganda from both OS's and think they have proven their point. Chose what fits and wear it!

You have a virus!!!!

Please, Please, Please!!!!! When there is a popup that appears on your screen and tells you there are viruses on your computer and you should run some software that is not installed on you computer. Don't believe it! It's not true! "They", (the mystical cloud) are trying to sell you something and are not really trying to help. I have uninstalled plenty of programs on plenty of computers to know this tactic works and will only stop working if "we" (royal we) could stop falling for it.

Usability over Function???

With the release of the iPhone, I hope phone manufactures will realize there is a need for better user interfaces and they can not rest only of the features to get the masses to buy. I own a Starcom PPC6700 a Windows Mobile Phone. It has the same main features as the iPhone: Camera, photos, audio files, video, internet, voice mail, and IM. What does the phone lack? What did Microsoft miss when they wrote the OS? Usability, it is easier and more intuitive in accessing the feature rich iPhone. Press you finger and you are accessing you camera, press again you take a picture, double press and you are zooming in. Slide your finger, you are browsing through your photos. Press again and you have closed your picture viewer and now you can access your music with the press of a finger. No stylus, no ambiguous buttons to use. Granted the iPhone is way expensive and only for AT&T. But that being said, people are paying the price to end their contracts early to switch to AT&T and use the iPhone. I am glad the iPhone was released and hope it sparks a revolution in the usefulness of the "many featured phone" in the future and cause prices to come down.
